Year 4/5 were lucky to have a teacher from Beamish Museum with us this afternoon. We explored our local area over 100 years ago, what happened to some local families and who worked down the mines.
First, we looked at some Census information and did some drama. After that, we looked at mining pictures/artefacts and a newspaper report about a local mining disaster. We had a brilliant afternoon with Mr. Woolley.
