What we are learning about…
Autumn Term
In the morning we do Read Write Inc. which helps us read, write and decode unfamiliar and tricky words. We are learning some new spelling rules too.
In maths we are learning about numbers to 20, moving onto recognising numbers to 100. Counting forwards and backwards from any given number. We will use concrete resources and pictorial methods to help us understand tricky mathematical concepts.
We will also be learning about Seaham. As scientists, we will be thinking about keeping healthy through diet and exercise.
Spring Term
We are continuing to do Read Write Inc. which helps us read, write and decode unfamiliar and tricky words. We are learning some new spelling rules too. In maths are learning about ordinal numbers. We will be looking at place value for numbers up to 20. We will also be looking at how to spell those numbers. We will use concrete resources and pictorial methods to help us understand tricky mathematical concepts.
In art we will be looking closely at the work of Wassily Kandinsky.
In science this half term we are looking at mini worlds. The children are enjoying looking through magnifying glasses and microscopes to see the shapes and patterns on objects. We have looked at a range of different materials including wood, metal, plastic and parts of our body.
In geography we are looking at ‘Our Locality’ which includes looking at Seaham and the surrounding areas in depth. We have been learning to write and send letters, finding out our own address.
