Welcome to Year 2!
We have a brilliant class in Year 2!
There are 27 hard working and helpful pupils.
The Year 2 staff are Mrs Brotchie, Miss McCabe and Mrs Curtis. Mrs Reilly also works in Year 2 on Wednesday afternoons.
PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit in school. They will bring it home at the end of each half term.
We have two school councillors in Year 2, Sophie and Lyam. They attend School Council meetings on behalf of our class. They put forward our ideas and concerns and return with decisions made and any further any items to discuss.
The Eco Warriors for our class are Rosa and Elliot. It is their job to help our class be eco-friendly by reminding the teachers to turn off the projector and the lights when the room is empty, and also to open the blinds and use natural light instead. They attend regular meetings on our behalf.
Lily is our Sports Crew representative. She attends Sports Crew meetings and is involved in sporting events in our school.
Clubs in Year 2 are:
Recorder Club Tuesday 3:15 until 4:00
Mathletics Club Thursday 3:15 until 4:15
What we are learning about…
Spring Term
This term in Maths we are learning about multiplication and division. We are also trying to learn our x2, x5 and x10 multiplication tables. Keep practising with us please!
In Literacy, we will be writing instructions, non-chronological reports, character profiles and letters. We will even be writing our own song! We still have spellings to learn. Our spelling books need to be in school on a Friday. We take them home again on a Monday, with our new spellings to practise.
In PE we are doing gymnastics and dance and are developing a dance to perform at the school’s Day of Dance in March.
In Science, we will be using a microscope to examine plants and materials close up. We will be using lots of scientific vocabulary to help us describe what we observe.
