Welcome to Reception Class (Mrs Thompson)
We have 35 children in Reception. Our class teachers are Mrs Thompson and Mrs Cantwell and our Teaching Assistant is Mr Osmond. Mrs Reilly works in Reception all day on a Friday.
Nursery Rhymes
This half term we are learning about Nursery Rhymes. We have been reciting lots of these traditional rhymes, including Humpty Dumpty, Incy Wincy Spider and Hickory Dickory Dock. We even made and painted our own clay mice.
European Languages Day
In Reception, we like to celebrate our pupil’s links to other cultures. We did this on European Languages Day by tasting some traditional food: Swedish meatballs, Hungarian biscuit cake, German potato salad, Persian fruit salad and Vietnamese spring rolls. We tried a little bit of traditional Hungarian dancing and also said hello in these languages.
Fire pit
We love to spend time outdoors in Reception! We used our fire pit to toast marshmallows, thinking about all the ways we needed to stay safe around fire. They tasted delicious.
General Information
PE days is Tuesday. Children can leave their full PE kit in school and just take it home for washing at half term.
Please bring reading books in every day. Children will be read with once a week and their books swapped.
