Welcome to Year 3/4
In year 3/4 we have 27 children made of up 15 boys and 12 girls. Miss Lorraine is our class teacher but we also have Miss Huntingdon working with us every day. Miss Burgess works with us on a Thursday afternoon.
PE
We have PE on a Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on those days clearly named to save any confusion. We also take part in the daily mile just before lunch time where the children are encouraged to run at a steady pace for the given time. Could you please make sure that your children come to school with a water bottle each day.
Home Reading
The children choose their home reading book and need to read for at least 15 minutes every evening. If your child has read their book it would be beneficial if you could spend a few minutes asking them questions about it to see if they have understood what they have read. Please sign their yellow diary each night so that we know they have read at home.
What we have been learning about!
During the first week back, the book that we studied was Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine. We did lots of writing, including descriptions of Grandma but we also had fun making our own marvellous medicine! Once we had made our medicine we wrote some instructions of how we did it.
Autumn 1
During this half term we have been learning all about the Mediterranean in Geography. The children have looked at atlases, globes and enjoyed time on google earth. We have thought about the countries within the Mediterranean and how to know if it is a Mediterranean country, the food, climate as well as using our iPads to make a presentation on PicCollage.
