Archived Y1/2 Miss Fowler (2019/20)

Welcome to Year 1/2

We have 26 children in Year 1/2, 12 Year 1’s and 14 Year 2’s. Our Teaching assistant is Mrs Hornsby. Mrs Devlin takes the children on a morning.

Our PE days are on a Tuesday and Thursday so please make sure your children bring their PE kit and a bottle of water.  Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on those days clearly named to save any confusion. Their PE kit is to stay in school and they will bring it home at the end of each half term.

Home Reading

In school children will read with an adult at least 3 times a week. Please make sure that children have their reading books in school every day. Children should read their books every night at home and we encourage you to sign their reading record every time they do

Times Tables

It is also very important that your child knows their times tables as they help with almost every area of maths. They can practice at home on Times Table Rockstars.

The children will be given spellings on a Monday and we will complete a spelling test on a Friday. Even though we complete lots of spelling activities during the week, the children are still encouraged to practise their spellings when they are at home.

Year 1/2 – What We Are Learning About

This first week we have been reading ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and have enjoyed doing lots of activities around this book. We have made our own 3D crayon, wrote a postcard to Duncan and lots of number work in Maths.

Science: Children will be learning all about their bodies and senses and what they are used for.
PE: Children will be completing a dance and gymnastic series of lessons where we will be covering making shapes, balancing and looking at creating a cat dance routine. Children will also be completing in team games.
