Welcome to Year 1/2!
There are 26 enthusiastic pupils in Year 1/2, of which 13 are Year 1 pupils and 13 are Year 2 pupils. The staff working in Year 1/2 are Mrs Brotchie, Miss Devlin, Mrs Hornsby and Mrs Curtis. Mrs Knight teaches this class every Wednesday afternoon.
Please make sure your child has their reading book in school every day. Children should read their reading books every day at home and we encourage you to sign their reading record each time they do read. In school, they will be reading with an adult at least 3 times each week.
Please continue to use Mathletics at home too.
For Year 2 pupils, weekly spellings will be sent home on a Monday to learn for a spelling test that Friday. Please help your child to persevere with these!
PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit in school. They will bring it home at the end of each half term.
Our elected class MP is Lincoln Trott and he will be our parliamentary representative for the current academic year. He will attend meetings with our school Prime Minister and the other Members of School Parliament to discuss any issues raised in our Class Parliament meetings.
Autumn Term

Year 2
In Maths we are learning the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We are also learning corresponding division facts.
We are using Times Tables Rock Stars to help us to recall facts quickly.
You can help your child at home to be confident with money by identifying coins and adding up small amounts of change. Please also help your child to tell the time at different points of the day.
In Literacy the main focus of this term is reading and comprehension. We will be beginning to learn cursive handwriting in November.
Year 1
In Maths this term we are reading, writing and ordering numbers to 10 and working on addition and subtraction within 10.
In Literacy, we continue to follow the Read Write Inc scheme.

100% Attendance Party
We have been so good at coming to school every day that we have already had two 100% attendance parties! Our first party was a sports party and then we had a pyjama party! Keep up the good work!
