Send My Friend to School is an appeal to the government persuading them that 37 million children – who are missing out on school because they live in crisis affected countries – should be able to go to school. Over the last few weeks, everyone in school has made a rucksack that contained a message to the government and all the things that our children thought were important in school. They included items like friends, teachers, pencils, love. Friday 1st July was the day of action and we invited our local MP, Grahame Morris, to come and see what we had been doing. Year 6 produced a great assembly including a beautiful rendition of ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars and presented him with a box full of all our rucksacks to take to No. 10 Downing Street. After the assembly, Mr Morris talked to Year 6 and answered their questions.
